Upstate Pride SC (UPSC) serves as a cornerstone of advocacy and empowerment for the LGBTQ+ community in South Carolina's Upstate region. Since our inception in 2008, we have been dedicated to fostering equality and acceptance through intersectionality and collaboration with marginalized communities.
By sponsoring our signature events, you have the opportunity to not only visibly support diversity and inclusion but also to make a tangible difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals.
UPSC is a leading voice in the LGBTQ+ community that fills crucial gaps in services. Our initiatives include providing peer counseling and health support, conducting advocacy training, offering a speakers bureau for organizations and academic institutions, providing safe spaces for gathering and networking, and hosting inclusive and affirming events.
As an all volunteer organization, you can be assured that every dollar of your contribution goes directly towards supporting our programs, events, and advocacy efforts to ensure that the Upstate is a welcoming place for all.
All sponsorships include visibility opportunities at our signature events. These events are all-inclusive regardless of ethnicity, identity, orientation, and gender.
The Black Pride Festival is now our largest event and continues to grow every year. In 2023, we welcomed an astounding 11,000+ attendees, validating the importance of our mission. This community event is all-inclusive with a focus on empowering marginalized groups, including transgender, Hispanic, and Black individuals. Our entertainers and speakers are carefully selected to reflect these themes.
In 2022, we moved from Falls Park to the main streets of downtown Greenville and held a March integrated with the festival for the first time.
The Fall Festival is our longest running festival. In 2009, members of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Spartanburg held the first ever Fall March & Festival, drawing around 500 marchers in an impressive showing of support.
Since then, the event has grown dramatically.
In 2023, we moved from Barnett Park to the streets of downtown Spartanburg for even greater accessibility and visibility within the community.
Our Annual Health Fair is a day filled with fun, learning, and free health screenings to empower everyone to take control of their health. This event is open to all, with a special focus on LGBTQ health, including sexual health by providing a safe and inclusive environment to access important medical services and resources.
Free Health Screenings are the heart of the event and will be the wide array of free health screenings available to everyone. Our goal is to remove barriers to healthcare, offering essential services in a community setting where people can feel comfortable and supported.
